United Capital Group Secures Rwanda Capital Market Licence, Strengthens its Pan-African Growth Footprint

United Capital In Rwanda
As part of its ongoing pan-African expansion strategy, United Capital Group has secured regulatory approvals to commence operations in Rwanda, marking its formal entry into East Africa and reinforcing its ambition to build a leading continental financial services institution.

The Group’s newly established entities include United Capital Trustees Rwanda Limited, licensed to provide trusteeship services, and United Capital Financial Services Rwanda Limited, licensed to offer investment management services, including portfolio management, investment advisory, capital mobilisation, capital market advisory, and fund management solutions.

With this development, United Capital now operates in 10 countries, including Nigeria, with a strong presence in key African markets, a recent expansion into the eight countries within the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) region, alongside a growing footprint in East Africa.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Capital Market Authority of Rwanda, Romeo Ngarambe, said:

“When a pan-African institution of United Capital’s calibre and track record deliberately chooses Kigali as the base for its East and Central African operations, it sends a signal that no ranking or report can replicate. It tells the world that Rwanda’s market is credible, our institutions are trusted, and our ambition is backed by execution. This is the kind of conviction that can transform the trajectory of capital markets, and we remain committed to building a platform worthy of the best institutions Africa has to offer.”

Also speaking on the new license, the Group Chief Executive Officer, United Capital Group, Peter Ashade, said,

“This new license is not just about physical presence; it is about impact. We are here to work with local economies, governments, and partners to empower them through capital and to build a more prosperous Africa. Our vision is Pan-African, and our mission is to create generational wealth and promote sustainable development. Rwanda represents everything we believe in: ambition, discipline, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. This is the beginning of a new chapter in East Africa’s financial story, one defined by innovation, inclusion, and empowerment.”

This milestone further strengthens the Group’s position as a pan-African financial services powerhouse, deepening its integrated continental presence as it continues to expand across Africa.

Now firmly rooted in both West and East African markets, the Group sets its sights on Southern Africa as it advances its vision of becoming a fully integrated financial institution with true continental scale and reach.
