United Capital Plays Leading Role in Landmark Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO, Advancing Pan-African Capital Markets Leadership

Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO Signing Ceremony

United Capital Group, a leading Pan-African financial and investment services group has announced its leading role in the landmark Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, bringing together the strength, expertise and experience of its Investment Banking and Securities trading businesses as Joint Issuing House and one of the Official Stockbrokers to the transaction.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO is a defining moment for the capital markets, bringing one of Africa’s most significant industrial enterprises to the public market and creating an opportunity for a broader range of investors to participate in its ownership. For United Capital, the transaction further demonstrates the Group’s ability to bring together its expertise across the capital markets to support a transaction of this scale.

Peter Ashade

United Capital’s Investment Banking business serves as Joint Issuing House, providing transaction advisory and capital-markets expertise, while United Capital Securities serves as one of the Official Stockbrokers, supporting investor participation and distribution.

Together, these roles demonstrate United Capital’s approach to capital formation and its ability to support leading African enterprises through the capital markets.

One Group, Endless Possibilities

The transaction also reflects United Capital’s “One Group, Endless Possibilities” commitment, bringing together the strength of its subsidiaries to support an opportunity of this scale.

Across Investment Banking, Securities Trading, Asset Management, Trusteeship and Wealth Management, the Group combines specialised expertise to serve governments, corporates, institutions and individual investors.

This strength is increasingly being deployed across Africa as United Capital expands its footprint and deepens its role in the continent’s financial markets.

Earlier this year, United Capital Group secured regulatory approvals to establish operations in Rwanda and Ethiopia. In Ethiopia, United Capital became the first foreign institution licensed to provide investment banking services in the country, marking an important step in the development of its emerging capital market.

In Rwanda, the Group received regulatory approvals for United Capital Trustees Rwanda Limited and United Capital Financial Services Rwanda Limited, creating a platform for investment management, investment banking and trusteeship services, strengthening the Group’s presence within the Eastern Africa bloc. These milestones form part of United Capital’s broader Pan-African strategy to mobilise capital across the continent, connect African investment opportunities with domestic and international investors, and support business and economic growth.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO’s significance extends beyond the transaction itself. The listing brings one of Africa’s largest industrial businesses to the public market and gives a broader range of investors the chance to participate in its future. With its scale and potential for retail participation, the transaction has been dubbed “the IPO for the people.”

Transactions of this scale show the role strong African capital markets can play in helping businesses raise long-term capital, broadening ownership and giving more Africans the opportunity to participate in their growth.

As United Capital continues to expand across Africa, the Group will bring its expertise and capabilities closer to more jurisdictions to support governments, businesses and investors across key African markets.

United Capital congratulates Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals on this landmark transaction and looks forward to the company’s continued growth as a publicly owned African enterprise.
