  This is the myth that stops people from reporting fraud when it happens to them. The truth is that fraudsters specifically target educated, employed, financially active people. They do their research. They know what language to use. They know which buttons to press. Falling for a scam is not a reflection of your intelligence. • Myth 4: Once my money is gone, it is gone

  Not necessarily. If you act quickly, there are channels available to you. Report to the SEC Investor Protection Fund, the EFCC, and your financial institution immediately. The first 24 hours matter more than you think. Do not wait, and do not be embarrassed. Report.

  The scams that are working right now do not look like scams. They look like investment opportunities. They come from people you know or trust. They arrive on platforms you use every day. The best protection is not confidence in your ability to spot fraud. It is a habit of verifying every opportunity before you commit a single naira.
